Stéphane Denève will open the 2011-12 season as the new chief conductor of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (SWR) on Thursday 22 September and Friday 23 September 2011 at the Liederhalle Stuttgart, Beehovensaal. The concert begins at 20:00 (German time) with a pre-concert introduction (Kerstin Gebel in conversation with Stéphane Denève) at 19:00. The concert on 23 September will be broadcast live on SWR2 from 20:03.

As if delivering a musical business card, Stéphane Denève will unite three musical lines his inaugural concert: the great late-Romantic tradition, with the Richard Strauss tone poem Ein Heldenleben, French colours with Ravel’s ballet music for Daphnis et Chloe and the music of today with Magnus Lindberg’s Violin Concerto (with soloist Alina Pogostkina).
